Lauf Cycles is set to add an 8% surcharge on its Elja XC and Trail mountain bikes and Seigla gravel bikes sold in the U.S. starting June 5. The Icelandic bike maker is facing increased tariff costs despite relocating its assembly to Virginia and utilizing a U.S.-based drivetrain. While the company expressed reluctance to raise prices, they emphasize that the surcharge is temporary and contingent on potential adjustments in U.S. tariffs on European goods. Orders placed by June 4 will not incur the surcharge.
We really didn't want to do this. After all, we moved our assembly factory to the USA... But we're still getting hit with tariffs.
We know many companies use tariffs to boost prices and never bring them back down, but that's not how we do things.
