Ben Healy finished third on stage 10 of the Tour de France, which allowed him to take the yellow jersey. At 24 years old, he became only the fourth Irish cyclist to do so. He started the day in 11th place, 3:55 seconds behind the leader. Healy was part of a breakaway group, which allowed him to take over the lead. This marks an impressive journey for him as he also won stage 6 and is leading the best young rider classification.
Healy finished third on stage 10 into Le Mont-Dore Puy de Sancy and moved into the yellow jersey at the Tour de France, becoming only the fourth Irish cyclist in history to do so.
He remarked, 'It's a fairytale. If you told me this before the Tour, I wouldn't have believed you.' His pride in representing Ireland is evident.
He started the day in 11th place in the GC standings, 3:55 seconds down on overnight leader Tadej Pogačar, before moving into the virtual race lead.
Healy won stage 6 into Vire Normandie and leads both the overall classification and the best young rider classification ahead of Remco Evenepoel.
