"What was supposed to be a straightforward trip to Prince George lasted about fifteen minutes past the town line for Kona team rider Caleb Holonko. The moment Caleb rolled into Williams Lake and linked up with local legend "Coco," the plans changed. Before the truck had even cooled off, a quick pitstop had become time to unload and post up for the making of his latest project Scratching the Surface II in the supposed Shangri-La of freeride."
"Williams Lake carries a deep mythology: and is often referred to as the Shagri-La of BC mountain biking. With some 200 trails sprawling across the valley, skinny culture still alive and well, and the looming massive woodwork that carries the ghosts of riders past and equally the fingerprints of riders present, Williams Lake has a vibe that feels equal parts bike-park and part backwoods masterpiece."
Caleb Holonko planned a short drive to Prince George but stopped in Williams Lake, where meeting local legend "Coco" turned a pitstop into an extended shoot for Scratching the Surface II. Williams Lake offers expansive freeride terrain, a thriving community of riders and builders, and roughly 200 trails that blend bike-park features with backwoods lines. Local builders have sculpted massive woodwork and kept skinny culture alive, creating a landscape rich with the ghosts and fingerprints of riders past and present. Holonko found that following the natural flow of the day and engaging with the local scene produced the best creative outcomes.
