Giro d'Italia: Pedersen dominates another sprint finish to win stage five
Briefly

Mads Pedersen showcased remarkable skill at the Giro d'Italia, winning his third stage in five races with a narrow finish in stage five from Ceglie Messapica to Matera. Despite struggling initially on the climb, Pedersen launched into his sprint, narrowly defeating Edoardo Zambanini. The race saw an aggressive approach, especially on the final climb, but Pedersen's strategic sprint, aided by teammate Mathias Vacek, secured his lead. This victory solidifies Pedersen's dominance as he continues to wear the prestigious pink jersey.
I wasn't sure at all if I had won, Lidl-Trek rider Pedersen said. Three wins in five stages and winning with the pink jersey is insane.
It was incredibly hard in the last 20km. I suffered a lot. This was a really tough one, Pedersen said.
Once again, Pedersen's teammate Mathias Vacek gave him the perfect lead out, and after his Czech colleague dropped off the front, Pedersen went early and his gamble paid off.
The strain shows on the face of Denmark's Mads Pedersen, in the pink jersey, as he sprints to win the fifth stage of the Giro d'Italia.
