Fredrik Dversnes won the 15th stage of the Giro d'Italia after escaping in a breakaway and finishing ahead of three Italians, Mirco Maestri, Martin Marcellusi, and Mattia Bais. A bunch sprint did not materialise, despite the route from Voghera to Milan being flat and expected to suit sprinters. Jonas Vingegaard remained in pink as overall leader, finishing with a gap of two minutes and 26 seconds over Afonso Eulalio. Race organisers neutralised the final five kilometres for the general classification after riders complained about road furniture, and the neutralisation was extended to the entire fourth and final lap around Milan. The stage and sprint remained valid. Dversnes recorded his biggest career win, and the peloton will rest before the decisive final week begins with mountain stages.
