German Road Championships: Niedermaier, Schachmann win elite time trials
Briefly

Max Schachmann and Antonia Niedermaier emerged victorious at the German elite time trial championships held in Rosenheim, each claiming their first national titles. Schachmann, who previously won the German road race championships in 2019 and 2021, completed the 22.6km race in 27:47, finishing ahead of Miguel Heidemann by 17 seconds. Niedermaier, an under-23 time trial world champion, clocked in at 31:10, over a minute faster than her nearest competitor. Both athletes expressed their excitement and motivation following their wins, directing attention to their future goals.
"I was very motivated, because things didn't go as planned for me in the Dauphiné and I was determined to put that hard week behind," Schachmann said.
"It's my first time trial title in nine seasons as a pro and it makes me very happy to celebrate it as part of Soudal Quick-Step," Schachmann noted.
