Victor Mooney, a 59-year-old man from Flushing, gained international recognition for his latest pilgrimage known as the Patience on Wheels, a 1,000-kilometer bike journey across Poland. Designed to honor Pope Francis and the Catholic Church's 2025 Jubilee theme, this expedition included visits to significant shrines and memorials, including former Holocaust sites. Upon completion in Rome, Mooney met Pope Leo XIV, presented him a commemorative pennant and donated his bicycle to a Vatican-affiliated hospital, symbolizing hope and community support for those facing challenges.
"This act of generosity not only demonstrates a personal commitment to solidarity but also represents a symbol of hope and strength for those who face difficult challenges."
"Mooney called the journey his Pilgrimage on Wheels, undertaken in honor of Pope Francis and in the spirit of the Catholic Church's 2025 Jubilee theme: Pilgrims of Hope."
