Five Boro Bike Tour takes thousands of bicyclists through NYC's main thoroughfares
Briefly

The annual Five Boro Bike Tour saw more than 32,000 cyclists braving the weather to traverse a 40-mile route through New York City, touching all five boroughs. Riders kicked off from Lower Manhattan and encountered only light rain during the event, which is non-competitive and aims to promote cycling. This long-standing event, first held in 1977 with just a few hundred participants, helps raise funds for bicycling education and advocates for improved cycling infrastructure in the city.
The first wave of riders took off from Lower Manhattan around 8:30 a.m, with the huge crowd moving north through the city and through Central Park.
Cyclists managed to dodge most of the deluges that had been forecast for the day, with only scattered showers during the leisurely ride, which is not a timed race.
