Briefly

Danny van Poppel won Stage 3 of the Deutschland Tour in Kassel, out-sprinting race leader Søren Wærenskjold, with Emilien Jeanniere third. Matthew Brennan attempted to squeeze between Van Poppel and Wærenskjold, collided with the Norwegian, and lost his chance after gesturing while sitting up. Wærenskjold kept the overall lead thanks to a time bonus for second on the stage, six seconds ahead of Jhonatan Narváez; Riley Sheehan sits third at 11 seconds. A three-rider breakaway lasted the first half of the 175.7km stage before teams reined it in and set up the sprint finish.
Danny van Poppel (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) finally got the win he's been seeking at the Deutschland Tour, out-sprinting race leader Søren Wærenskjold (Uno-X Mobility) in Kassel. Emilien Jeanniere (TotalEnergies) was third. The sprint could have been a disaster as Matthew Brennan (Visma-Lease a Bike) tried to squeeze through between Van Poppel and Wærenskjold and ran into the Norwegian and nearly lost his balance. He lost a chance at a result as he sat up to gesticulate at the Uno-X rider.
With the time bonus for second on the stage, Wærenskjold continues as race leader now six seconds ahead of Jhonatan Narváez (UAE Team Emirates XRG). Riley Sheehan (Israel-Premier Tech) is third at 11 seconds. Stage 3 of the Deutschland Tour was tightly controlled by the peloton, with a three-rider breakaway lasting only the first half of the 175.7km stage from Arnsberg to Kassel.
