Stage 5 of the UAE Tour saw multiple riders injured, notably Carlos RodrÃguez of Ineos Grenadiers, who fractured his collarbone in a crash on stage 6. Initially aiming for a strong finish, RodrÃguez now faces weeks away from competitive cycling. Meanwhile, despite this setback, Ineos celebrated Josh Tarling's impressive time trial win on stage 2. The race concluded with Tadej PogaÄar securing victory in the final stage, leaving RodrÃguez's injury as a poignant reminder of the risks involved in competitive cycling.
"Sadly, Carlos RodrÃguez has not started after hospital tests revealed he suffered a collarbone fracture in a crash on stage 6," the team announced in a social media post.
RodrÃguez figured to be a major player in Sundayâs final stage up to the summit finish at Jebel Hafeet, but now faces a multi-week layoff.
Despite the British team's leader's plight, it wasn't all doom and gloom for Ineos in the UAE this week; Josh Tarling rode a stunning time trial on stage 2.
Stage 6, a pan-flat 165km day in the saddle, brought bad news for Ineos Grenadiers and Carlos RodrÃguez after he crashed and broke his collarbone.
