Black Sabbath Receive Birmingham's Highest Honor in Medal Ceremony
Briefly

On June 28th, the original members of Black Sabbath received the Freedom of the City of Birmingham, a prestigious honor recognizing their significant cultural impact. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward were presented city scrolls and medals by the Lord Mayor ahead of their final concert. The honor acknowledges the band's pioneering role in heavy metal and their strong ties to Birmingham, reflecting on their working-class roots and pride in their hometown.
The Freedom of the City honour is one of the oldest traditional ceremonies in the country and recognises people's exceptional service to the city.

Birmingham is one of the greatest cities ever, it's given the world so much and we're proud to be here.
