The updated X20 system will have: The same 1.4kg lightweight motor delivers the increased power. X20-equipped bikes manufactured and activated after August 1, 2025, will already have this upgrade. X20 bikes currently in the wild will gain access to the updates closer to the end of 2025."
Mahle's X20 launched in 2022 as an ultra-light e-bike drive system with a claimed total system weight near 3kg and a rear hub-motor weight of 1.4kg. Original outputs were 250W peak power and 55Nm torque. A firmware update announced on September 4, 2025 increases torque by 18% and power by 10%, delivered through the same 1.4kg motor. Bikes manufactured and activated after August 1, 2025 include the update; existing X20 bikes will receive the update by late 2025. The X20 platform also gains UDH compatibility for broader drivetrain options.
