After 40 Years of Excellence, Gorewear's Final Chapter Has Been Written
"Gore has sent out a letter to retailers announcing that the legendary Gorewear brand will be discontinued next year, a surprising piece of news for a brand that has been producing excellent all-weather apparel since 1984. Initially reported by Velobiz.de, which obtained a copy of the letter sent to retailers, the letter states that economic reasons necessitate this decision."
"The Gorewear.com website will remain online to process orders and sell off existing inventory. Retailers will still be able to place orders until the end of March 2026. After that point, Gorewear will be a fond memory. Although this could raise some flags for turmoil within the brand, Gore, the parent company, isn't going anywhere and will continue to manufacture waterproof textiles for the Gore-Tex brand."
Gore will discontinue the Gorewear brand next year, citing economic reasons and lack of realistic possibility to sustainably achieve business and financial goals after more than 40 years of investment. The Gorewear.com site will remain online to process orders and sell existing inventory, and retailers can place orders through the end of March 2026. Gore, the parent company, will continue manufacturing waterproof textiles under the Gore‑Tex name, which will be used across cycling and outdoor apparel. Industry shifts toward PFAS‑free waterproof membranes and concerns over microplastic shedding may have influenced the decision and prompted exploration of alternative textiles and asset reallocation.
