'What's the city missing?' Munich residents urged to put forward ideas for vote
""Think about what the city is missing, share your idea, and maybe your project will become reality," said Mayor Dieter Reiter."
"The goal is to give residents - including foreigners - a voice in shaping their city."
"Proposals must cost no more than €100,000 each, benefit the entire city, and be sustainable and socially fair."
"Ideas can be submitted online or by post up to June 9th."
In a pioneering initiative, Munich residents will have the opportunity to actively participate in shaping the city's future by submitting proposals for funding from a €1 million budget for the year 2025. This participatory budgeting approach, inspired by similar efforts in Paris and Barcelona, seeks to empower locals, including non-residents, to suggest and vote on community projects that improve public spaces and social equity. Proposed ideas must meet specific criteria and will undergo feasibility checks, culminating in a democratic selection of projects for funding starting from mid-June 2023.
