Lightning Symphony, created by Swiss artist Claudia Comte for the Eurovision Song Contest, is a 52-meter inflatable sound sculpture located on Messeplatz in Basel. The installation invites interaction through its glowing corridor shaped like sound waves, visually representing the rhythm of both classic and modern music. With pulsing LED lights, Lightning Symphony offers a meditative encounter with music, aiming to highlight soundâs communal power and transformation of space, serving as both a stage and a refuge for enjoying universal music experiences.
For the Eurovision Song Contest, I wanted to create an immersive installation that pays tribute to the deep interaction between sound, movement, and contemporary art. This installation, called Lightning Symphony, transforms the fairground into both a stage and a place of refuge.
It is a symbol of community and invites all people, regardless of origin, language, or background, to experience music as a universal language that transcends borders.
