Historic collab: Harvard's Glee Club, Fisk's Jubilee Singers - Harvard Gazette
"These are two of the oldest choirs in the United States, and two choirs that, I think it's safe to say, have a bit of historical significance, but they've never performed together. This has always seemed like an omission, or an opportunity that was worth exploring."
"It's usually concert, concert, rehearsal, concert, and we don't get to exist as musicians together. But we're going to have time for the students to just engage and eat and have conversation."
The Harvard Glee Club, established in 1858, and the Fisk Jubilee Singers, founded in 1871, are two of the oldest collegiate choirs in the U.S. They have never performed together until a recent event in Nashville. The collaboration took place during the Glee Club's tour across the South, allowing both groups to engage musically and socially. The performance underscored the historical significance of both choirs and the importance of collaboration in their musical journeys.
