"The announcement comes amid reports that a whopping 84 per cent of trans adults feel unsafe in Britain, according to a YouGov poll commissioned by Good Law Project. The legal campaign group said the insecurity is "rooted" in the threat of physical harm, with almost one in four trans adults saying they have faced physical violence due to their gender identity."
Trans+ History Week 2026 will run from 4–10 May, with Trans+ History Day on 6 May marking the 92nd anniversary of the 1933 Nazi raid on Berlin’s Institut für Sexualwissenschaft. The 2026 programme will focus on community resistance and repression amid rising oppression. German fascists destroyed tens of thousands of research materials, books, and papers during the institute’s storming and subsequent book burning. Recent polling found 84% of trans adults in Britain feel unsafe, nearly one in four have experienced physical violence, and 91% distrust the Labour Party after policy U-turns and an extended puberty blocker ban. The community is urged to foreground enduring culture and history.
