Valerie, a miniature dachshund, recently spotted after 18 months on a remote island in Australia, has garnered attention from rescue teams eager to catch her. Jared Karen from Kangala Wildlife Rescue announced they have identified a specific area for capturing her, emphasizing her surprisingly good health during her time in the wild. Valerie, known as a "princess" by her owner Georgia Gardner, broke free while camping and managed to survive on instincts. The story highlights Valerie's resilience and the commitment of rescue workers and locals to bring her home.
"Fantastic news off the bat," Jared Karen, a staff member of Kangala Wildlife Rescue, said in an update. "We have seen her, and we've narrowed down the search area to one specific point where we've got cameras in place."
"It's absolutely unbelievable that she has survived a year and a half out there in the wild, honestly," said Georgia Gardner. "She's an absolute princess who rides in a car seat and only wears the color pink."
