"“It's like going back where times were easier. It's a little bit slower pace... You can come in and have a tea, a full tea service. We give you 2 hours and you just forget about the world and enjoy the company that you're with. And we make all our food here. People come from four different states and they make it an experience and adventure out,” said Schaffer."
"“My mom passed away. My husband passed away the next year. And I had to reinvent myself. And my lifelong dream was to own a breakfast lunch or a tea house. I had to do something...my husband and I were going to retire. I stopped at the stop sign across the street and this house was for sale,” said Schaffer."
"“ I am getting older. I would like to retire. I would hope that someone would come along someday and say, I would like to take the torch from you. That would be a blessing. And we hope we can continue for many, many more generations,” she continued."
The Village Teahouse in West Point, Pa is owned by Meg Schaffer and serves as a community-focused passion project. The business provides a relaxing environment, delicious bites, and fresh tea with a full tea service. Guests are given two hours to unwind, forget about the world, and enjoy the company they are with. All food is made in-house. The teahouse was created after major personal losses, including the passing of Schaffer’s mother and husband, which led her to reinvent herself and pursue a lifelong dream of owning a tea house. Schaffer hopes for continued operation and the chance for someone to take over in the future.
