Bayern Munich officials reportedly upset VfB Stuttgart by holding transfer discussions with Nick Woltemade without consent. The DFB expressed discontent regarding the timing of leaks about Bayern's interest in Woltemade, occurring shortly before the U-21 EURO final. DFB director Andreas Rettig emphasized the unfortunate timing and clarified it was not a contributing factor in their defeat. The situation adds pressure to Bayern's transfer window for securing Woltemade while managing the reactions from both VfB Stuttgart and the DFB.
"I would have preferred that FC Bayern's transfer policy does not become public just when Nick and the DFB had a major final coming up. I think that's a suboptimal timing. We would have preferred things to be different. But I also want to make it clear that it wasn't the reason for the defeat," stated DFB director Andreas Rettig.
The DFB reportedly did not agree with the timing of the recent leaks about a possible agreement between Bayern and Woltemade, specifically because the leak came just before the U-21 EUROs final.
