RB Leipzig has appointed Ole Werner, 37, as their new head coach on a contract lasting until 2027, following a period without a permanent coach after Marco Rose's dismissal in March. Werner's prior experience includes a stint at Werder Bremen, where he recorded a win percentage of 40.63% across 128 matches. Under Werner's leadership, Leipzig will focus on domestic competitions next season after missing out on European qualification for the first time since 2016. Key figures express optimism about his potential to lead the team.
"Ole is a young, ambitious and extremely ambitious head coach who will take the next step in his development with us," said Leipzig managing director Marcel Schafer.
"RB Leipzig stands for a bold, attacking style of play with a clear identity, as well as professional and ambitious thinking," Werner said.
"The club has big goals and high expectations and this is exactly the kind of environment that convinced me and one to which I want to contribute."
