"The Campus is becoming increasingly important at FC Bayern. This is reflected in the playing time our young players are getting with the first team, especially Lennart Karl. This also means more work for us in our day-to-day activities. We're planning successful steps into professional football for more and more players. To meet these requirements, we have gained an experienced youth manager in Michael Wiesinger. Michael has done a successful job at Nürnberg for many years and we are convinced that with him we will be even better positioned for the challenges of the future than we already are now."
"I had a wonderful time as head of youth development at Nürnberg. Now I'm very much looking forward to the exciting task of playing a responsible role in talent development at one of the biggest clubs in the world."
FC Bayern is restructuring sporting management in its youth academy by appointing Michael Wiesinger as sporting director at the FC Bayern Campus effective 1 May. Wiesinger joins from Nürnberg, where he served as head of youth development since the 2019/20 season. He will take over responsibility for sporting matters at the Campus under director Jochen Sauer and succeeds Markus Weinzierl, whose contract runs until the summer and whose future is under discussion. Sauer emphasized the Campus's growing importance and increased first-team playing time for academy talents, and called Wiesinger an experienced youth manager well suited to future challenges. Wiesinger expressed enthusiasm about taking on a responsible talent-development role at the club.
