Harry Kane thrilled he was called 'best transfer' Bayern Munich's ever made by Uli Hoene
Harry Kane scored a hat-trick in Berlin as Bayern Munich beat VfB Stuttgart 3-0 to win the DFB-Pokal and complete the domestic double. Bayern also won the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Stuttgart before the Bundesliga season, though some consider it not an official competitive trophy. Kane had scored in that Supercup as well, and he led the Bundesliga in scoring. Uli Hoeneß attended the Pokal final and called Kane Bayern’s best transfer, noting the roughly €120 million fee from Tottenham in summer 2023. Kane said the praise from Hoeneß was a major honor and that he repaid it during his three years at the club. He finished the season with 61 goals and 7 assists across all competitions, totaling 146 goals and 33 assists since joining.
"Harry Kane was once again Bayern Munich's sparking hero, bagging a hat-trick in Berlin to lead the German Rekordmeister to the DFB-Pokal title via a 3-0 win over VfB Stuttgart, completing the domestic double. Technically, too, it was Bayern's third piece of silverware having also beaten Stuttgart before the start of the Bundesliga season in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, but depending on who you ask, that either or isn't officially counted as a competitive trophy. Ironically enough, Kane also scored in the Supercup 2-1 win over Stuttgart, led the Bundesliga in scoring, and was the absolute main man at the Olympiastadion Saturday night."
"After Bayern's Pokal triumph, Uli Hoeneß, who was in attendance in Berlin along with the usual FC Bayern front office suspects and DFB officials, said that Kane was "the best transfer" Bayern's ever made. He joined from Tottenham in the summer of 2023 for a fee of roughly €120 million after performance-based add-ons. For someone like Hoeneß, who used to say Bayern would never spend that type of money on any one player back when he was club president and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was CEO, the big money move for the England skipper has well and truly paid off."
"Kane responded to the words of praise from Hoeneß and said that hearing that big of a compliment from someone that means so much to FC Bayern is a massive honor. "Those are big words. You know, coming from Uli Hoeneß.. We know how much tradition FC Bayern have and that they've been among the best teams in the world for a long time. To hear such words from him is of course very gratifying. And I'm happy that I've been able to repay that in the three years I've been here. Personally, this was the best season of my career," Kane enthused to Bild (via @iMiaSanMia)."
