Dieter Hoeneß played for FC Bayern from 1979 to 1987, scoring 145 goals in 302 competitive appearances, after four years at VfB Stuttgart. He recalls the 1982 DFB Cup final against Nürnberg, including a memorable collision and a decisive header in a 4-2 Bayern win. He also remembers other cup finals, including 1985 in Berlin when Bayer Uerdingen beat Bayern 2-1 in extreme heat, and 1986 when Bayern won 5-2 over Stuttgart with three goals from Roland Wohlfarth. He describes his mixed feelings before a Bayern-Stuttgart final, influenced by his long Bayern connection and his son Sebastian coaching VfB.
