Dier to leave Bayern after turning down new deal
Briefly

Bayern Munich defender Eric Dier has decided to leave the club after the current season, despite discussions about a potential contract extension. Dier joined Bayern in January 2024 from Tottenham, making 45 appearances since then. Sporting director Christoph Freund acknowledged Dier's choice and expressed hope that he could win a title before departing. Dier is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Ligue 1 club Monaco for a three-year deal. Meanwhile, Bayern is close to securing the Bundesliga title, which could mark Dier's first silverware in his professional career.
"We had discussions with Eric about a new contract," sporting director Christoph Freund said. "He told us that he doesn't want to extend and will leave us."
"Hopefully he crowns his time with us with his first title."
Dier is in advanced talks to join Ligue 1 Monaco, aiming for an initial three-year deal with an option for an extra year.
Bayern are on the brink of winning the Bundesliga and can wrap up the title with a win against rivals RB Leipzig this weekend.
