Bayern Munich's Harry Kane get Schnitzel for every goal scored
A Bavarian innkeeper sends Harry Kane a Wiener Schnitzel delivered to his home for every goal Kane scores since his arrival in Bavaria. The tally reached 61 goals for the season. During a viewing party for a cup final, the innkeeper increased the offer by serving mini Kane schnitzels to about 300 guests, which was considered a major success. Each guest received a small veal Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad, and some public viewing guests also received cranberries. The innkeeper said the goal-meal story generated strong interest, and the cup final provided an opportunity for fans to try the schnitzels. Kane said he enjoys schnitzels and that everyone is happy about the tradition.
"Since his arrival in Bavaria, Stefan Kastner of Der Waldgasthof (The Forest Inn) has sent Kane a Wiener Schnitzel delivered to his home for every goal that he scores. If you are keeping a tally at home, that is 61 for this season alone. On Saturday, though, Kastner, who was hosting a viewing party, upped the ante by treating all 300 of his guests to mini Kane schnitzels something that was deemed a major success."
"After it became public in January that I buy Harry a meal for every goal he scores, there was a great deal of interest in our schnitzels. That's why I wanted to give all fans the opportunity to try one and the cup final was a great occasion for that, Kastner told Bild. This is how it played out: Around 300 guests accepted this tempting invitation, and each received a small goal-scorer schnitzel with potato salad."
"During normal restaurant hours, the veal Wiener Schnitzel, served with either roast potatoes or potato salad, costs 28.90 but on Saturday, these little samples were free! The Hofbrau brewery generously provided draft beer. Each of the more than 200 guests at the public viewing was given a mini schnitzel with potato salad and cranberries. It was a really successful evening. I'm especially pleased that Harry scored all three goals."
"In January, Kane talked about the Schnitzel deliveries. Schnitzel is my favorite Bavarian dish, even though many say it's Austrian. That's a nice story. Of course, I don't always eat them all myself. But everyone is happy about it, and I enjoy them very much too, said Kane. So, how did it all come to be, well, Bild has that part of the story, too: The schnitzel ritual originated like this: Employees and friends of the Kanes frequently stayed overnight and ate at Kastner's restaurant."
