Bayern Munich sporting director drove pursuit of young forward in summer
"Bayern Munich had to revamp their attack in the summer as several forwards left for different reasons. Leroy Sane left Bayern to join Galatasaray on a free transfer. Thomas Müller was not offered a new deal, while Kingsley Coman left Die Roten to join Al-Nassr. Die Roten missed out on Florian Wirtz as Liverpool won the race to sign the German forward from Bayer Leverkusen."
"The record Bundesliga champions eventually signed Luis Diaz from Liverpool. Bayern also signed Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea on a loan deal with an obligation to buy if certain conditions were met. The Bavarian club also tried to sign another forward along with Jackson on deadline day. Die Roten had pursued a move for FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Djú, but the move didn't materialize."
Several forwards left Bayern Munich over the summer, including Leroy Sane (free to Galatasaray), Thomas Müller (no new deal) and Kingsley Coman (to Al-Nassr). Liverpool beat Bayern to Florian Wirtz, while the club signed Luis Diaz from Liverpool and brought Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea on a loan with an obligation to buy subject to conditions. Bayern also pursued Franculino Djú from FC Midtjylland and submitted an offer, but the deal failed to materialize. Djú has 19 goals in 22 appearances and mainly plays as a number nine. Bayern plan to target forwards next summer and have also shown interest in Fisnik Asllani. Nicolas Jackson is not expected to be purchased permanently at this time. Bayern intend to hold contract talks with Harry Kane later in the season as he has signaled openness to a new deal.
