Bayern Munich Frauen complete most successful season to date
Bayern Munich Frauen ended the 2025/26 season with a 1-0 win over Hamburger SV, sealed by a late penalty from Georgia Stanway. The team won the Bundesliga with 24 wins and 2 draws in 26 matches, remaining unbeaten in the first season of a 14-team format. Bayern also achieved invincibility in 2014/15 and 2023/24, becoming the first club to win three invincible Bundesliga titles. The DFB-Pokal was defended for the first time in the women’s team’s history, with Bayern winning every match without conceding a goal. In Europe, Bayern recovered after a 1-7 loss to FC Barcelona to win four of their next five games and reach the quarterfinals, beating Manchester United before losing to Barcelona. Bayern also won the DFB-Supercup, finishing with only two defeats across all competitions and 132 goals in 42 games.
"Bayern won the title with 24 wins and 2 draws in 26 games, going invincible in the first season that the Frauen Bundesliga was expanded to 14 teams. This is not Bayern's first invincible Bundesliga season, they also achieved the feat in 2014/15 and 2023/24. Bayern thus became the first ever team to win three invincible league titles in the Bundesliga."
"Bayern also defended the DFB-Pokal title for the first time in the history of the women's team. A 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the first round was followed by two 3-0 wins over FC Ingolstadt and Hamburg, which were in turn followed by 4-0 wins over SGS Essen and Wolfsburg. Bayern completed their Pokal campaign without conceding a single goal, a feat that had been achieved seven times before in the competition's 45-year long history."
"Despite a 1-7 defeat to FC Barcelona in their first game, Bayern recovered to win four out of their remaining five games (drawing the remaining one) and secure direct passage to the quarterfinals. There, they dispatched Manchester United before succumbing to a hard-fought defeat to Barcelona in a much improved performance than in the league phase."
"Of course, the season would not be complete without mentioning the DFB-Supercup, which Bayern also won comfortably at the start of the season. Bayern thus finished the season with only two defeats in all competitions, and a whopping 132 goals scored across 42 games."
