Bayern Munich Frauen complete double with DFB-Pokal triumph
"The first half was a rather cagey affair, with both teams fashioning half-chances but not really coming close to scoring. However, just as the half was reaching its dying embers, Momoko Tanikawa got her side a penalty, and Georgia Stanway converted to put Bayern 1-0 up at halftime. They could have been two up had Pernille Harder’s close range shot not been blocked on the line."
"But Harder was not going to be denied again, and just before the clock hit the hour mark, her partner Magdalena Eriksson lobbed a sumptuous ball into the box, and the Danish striker connected with it properly to double the score. Wolfsburg were now devoid of fight, and Bayern took full advantage."
"With about quarter of an hour remaining, Klara Bühl made a mazy run down the left flank and crossed it across the box, where it ricocheted into the path of Tanikawa, who tapped in at the far post to put the game to bed. Bayern were not done, though, and they added a fourth through a cracking free kick from substitute Arianna Caruso."
"Bayern thus completed the double, cementing themselves into the record books and sparking wild celebrations in both Cologne and Munich. While the trophy record is technically the same as last season, the successful Champions League run boosts this season to Bayern's best ever in women's football. What's more, Bayern won the Pokal without conceding a single goal this season."
Bayern Munich Frauen secured their best-ever season by winning the 2025/26 DFB-Pokal final 4-0 against VfL Wolfsburg. Bayern had already clinched the Bundesliga title, while the cup final presented a tougher challenge after Wolfsburg had eliminated them from the Pokal for nine consecutive years. The first half remained cautious, with limited chances until Momoko Tanikawa won a penalty and Georgia Stanway converted to make it 1-0 at halftime. Pernille Harder’s blocked effort was followed by a second goal near the hour as Magdalena Eriksson’s pass was finished by Harder. Klara Bühl’s cross led to Momoko Tanikawa’s second, and Arianna Caruso added a fourth from a free kick. Bayern completed the double and won the Pokal without conceding a goal all season.
