Catalan police in Badalona near Barcelona faced a violent escape attempt late Friday night after officers spotted a stolen BMW M235 suspected to be tied to truck cargo theft operations. At about 11:30pm at an Esclat petrol station, four occupants were inside the vehicle when police approached. Three fled on foot, while the driver accelerated and deliberately rammed an unmarked police vehicle to break free. Police returned fire with regulation weapons to stop the threat, and the driver escaped in the stolen car. Coordinated Mossos d'Esquadra and local police later recovered the abandoned BMW and detained one suspect. No gunshot injuries have been reported, and further checks continue. Night patrol alerts were issued for extra vigilance.
