Fort Worth City Council to Hold Public Hearing on Small-Lot Housing in All Single-Family Districts
"The Fort Worth City Council will hold a public hearing on May 12 at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at 100 Fort Worth Trail. Residents who want to weigh in can attend and speak on the record."
A proposed citywide zoning change would add “Small Lot Housing” as a permitted use in every one-family residential zoning district. The proposal is based on Chapter 211, Subchapter D of the Texas Local Government Code and would create local supplemental standards consistent with that state law. Currently, one-family zoned lots allow only a single home, but approval would make small lot housing an option across the city. The same ordinance would remove “Governmental Office Facility” as a permitted use in the Community Facilities and Camp Bowie Transition zones. It would also add a “Mixed-Use Residential” definition and update the “Multifamily Dwelling” definition. A public hearing is scheduled for May 12 at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers.
