Kirk Cousins revealed he felt misled by the Atlanta Falcons for drafting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 pick in the 2024 draft. He had signed a substantial contract with the Falcons just weeks before the draft, believing he would be their starting quarterback. Cousins was aware of the possibility of the Falcons picking a QB, but the timing and high selection surprised him. He felt his decision to stay with the Minnesota Vikings could have been different had he known about the Falcons' plans.
"Certainly, if I had the information around free agency, it certainly would've affected my decision. I had no reason to leave Minnesota with how much we loved it there if both teams are going to be drafting a quarterback high."
