Kerry Carpenter was placed on the 10-day injured list because of a left AC joint sprain. Gage Workman’s contract was selected from Triple-A to fill Carpenter’s spot on the active roster. Detroit also made room on the 40-man roster by moving Justin Verlander from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. The roster moves adjust both the active roster and the 40-man roster to accommodate Carpenter’s absence and Workman’s promotion. Additional updates were expected after the announcement.
