In a continuing trend of lineup changes, the Braves opted for a familiar look as they faced left-handed pitcher Mitchell Parker of the Nationals. Despite the possibility of starting Stuart Fairchild, they kept Alex Verdugo in leadoff. The Nationals, with a focus on right-handed hitters, presented a lineup similar to their recent game against Baltimore. Historical performance showed the Braves struggling against Parker, raising concerns as they look to leverage their batting against weak defensive support from Washington.
Unsurprisingly, Sean Murphy is back in the lineup with the Nationals throwing southpaw Mitchell Parker at the Braves.
The Braves had an opportunity to give Stuart Fairchild another start, but opted to keep Alex Verdugo in the leadoff spot and left field instead.
Only four guys in the current Washington lineup have had the misfortune to face Spencer Strider, and those first three have all actually hit Strider pretty well.
The Braves, of course, just faced Parker last week, and now have a combined, and very sad, .177 wOBA against him in 55 total PAs.
