Martin Perez pitched for Atlanta at Great American Ballpark, allowing a walk and a double-play in the first inning. Atlanta scored in the second when Ozzie Albies doubled, then scored after a Dubon walk and a Yaz single, despite a controversial out at home. Perez walked Steer in the second and surrendered a homer to JJ Bleday, giving Cincinnati a 2-1 lead. Acuna hit an opposite-field homer in the third to tie the game, and Jorge Mateo added a solo homer in the fifth. Atlanta loaded the bases in the fifth with walks but Ozzie Albies flied out to end the threat. Tyler Kinley replaced Perez in the sixth for a 1-2-3 inning, and Matt Olson hit a solo homer in the seventh to make it 4-2. Lee and Suarez combined for scoreless seventh and eighth innings to preserve the lead.
