Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Peña suffered a fracture to the tip of his right ring finger while playing for the Dominican Republic in a World Baseball Classic exhibition game against the Tigers. The injury occurred in the third inning when Peña fielded a grounder behind second base, completed the play, and threw out the runner but was visibly examining his finger afterward. He was subsequently removed from the game. The Astros initially questioned initial reports of the fracture while testing continued, but have now confirmed the diagnosis.
