"This is the second time that Groshans has signed with a team to a minor league deal out of free agency. He signed with the Royals in November of 2024, playing 67 games between their Double-A and Triple-A affiliates last season. In those games, he slashed .284/.360/.362 with three home runs, 36 RBIs, 8 doubles and a triple. He struggled through only eight games with Triple-A Omaha, but those games were scattered in two to three-game increments throughout the season."
"It'll be an uphill battle for Groshans to play his way onto Atlanta's 40-man roster, especially after the club made multiple infield additions this winter in UTIL Mauricio Dubon, INF Jorge Mateo, and SS Ha-Seong Kim, although Kim will miss the beginning of the season after having surgery on his right middle finger earlier this month. The Braves also signed SS Aaron Schunk, formerly of the Colorado Rockies, to a minor league deal after he elected free agency."
Infielder Jordan Groshans signed a minor league deal with the Atlanta Braves. Groshans signed with the Kansas City Royals in November 2024 and played 67 games between Double-A and Triple-A, slashing .284/.360/.362 with three home runs, 36 RBIs, eight doubles and a triple. He struggled in eight scattered games with Triple-A Omaha but hit .291 in 59 Double-A games with Northwest Arkansas. Groshans faces an uphill path to Atlanta's 40-man roster after the club added Mauricio Dubon, Jorge Mateo and Ha-Seong Kim; Kim will miss the season's start following finger surgery. Groshans was a 2018 first-round pick by Toronto and made his MLB debut with Miami in 2022, appearing in 17 major-league games.
