Ex-Brewer Ruf sues Reds for career-ending injury
Briefly

Darin Ruf, a former MLB player, is suing the Cincinnati Reds for negligence following a serious knee injury he sustained while playing for the Milwaukee Brewers. The incident occurred when Ruf chased a foul ball and crashed into a metal tarp roller that lacked protective padding. As a result, he suffered permanent deformities to his knee and was placed on the injured list, ending his career. Ruf's lawsuit highlights the lack of safety measures at Great American Ballpark, calling for accountability for the dangerous condition.
This didn't need to happen. I wish it didn't happen. Players shouldn't have to worry about hidden hazards like that on a major league field.
This was an obvious and avoidable risk. There are basic safety protocols every MLB team should follow. Leaving an unpadded metal roller on the edge of the field is inexcusable.
