Martin Perez, 35, provided a strong start for Atlanta. Yustrimsky drove in the first run in the second inning, but JJ Blade answered with a two-run right-field homer. Ronald Acuna Jr. tied the game in the third with a solo shot, then hit again in the ninth. Jorge Mateo took the lead in the fifth with a two-run homer, and Matt Olsen added a seventh-inning solo homer. Tyler Kinley retired Cincinnati in order in the sixth on six pitches, Robert Suarez handled the eighth with two quick outs, and Raisel Iglesias earned his 28th consecutive save in the ninth. The Braves won 5-2, becoming the first team to reach 40 victories.
