Braves News: Player reviews, Cy Young winners, more
"The offseason churns on, with Tthe Braves continuing to signal significant additions this offseason. While Anthopoulos was more careful, as he is, in setting expectations for payroll than Terry McGuirk was in setting the aim of a top 5 payroll. Anthopoulos was not shy in setting roster expectations, however, as he reiterated the goals of adding a shortstop, a starter, and "a lot of relievers". This should be an active and interesting offseason in Atlanta, to see how they approach those goals."
"We continued our annual season review series with Sandy Leon, prospect Luke Waddell, and Jesus Bastidas. Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes were the AL and NL Cy Young winners and deserved ones, though I'm unconvinced that Skenes in particular should have won unanimously. Agent Scott Boras confirms that Japanese star Tatsuya Imai will be posted November 19th, meaning that he will sign sometime no later than around new years."
The Braves aim to add a shortstop, a starter, and "a lot of relievers" while leadership sets payroll expectations more cautiously than prior ownership. Atlanta plans an active offseason to pursue those roster goals. The annual season review featured Sandy Leon, prospect Luke Waddell, and Jesus Bastidas. Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes won the AL and NL Cy Young Awards respectively, though unanimous support for Skenes is questioned. Agent Scott Boras confirmed that Japanese star Tatsuya Imai will be posted on November 19 and is expected to sign no later than around the new year.
