Braves done with Orlando Arcia in surprise roster move
Briefly

The Atlanta Braves designated shortstop Orlando Arcia for assignment following the reinstatement of Ronald Acuna Jr. due to Arcia's poor performance, batting just .194 in the 2025 season. After a notable 2023 where he made the All-Star team, Arcia struggled last season, leading to his benching in favor of Nick Allen. The Braves may seek a more permanent solution for their shortstop position, with MLB analyst Dan O'Dowd suggesting a trade for Blue Jays' Bo Bichette, although he doubts Toronto's willingness to part with him at this stage in the season.
"I think the Braves need a bat. But I think they need that kind of bat," O'Dowd said Thursday. "High contact, low strikeouts, use the entire field."
Alan also appears to be a stopgap for the Braves until they find someone to fill that role permanently.
Arcia has been ice cold to start the 2025 season, batting just .194 with a .445 OPS through 14 games.
O'Dowd did question if the Blue Jays would be willing to give up Bichette, suggesting they are too all-in on this season.
