"The Atlanta Braves have brought back veteran catcher Chadwick Tromp on a minor league contract according to the team's transaction page. Tromp, who began the 2025 season on Atlanta's Opening Day roster, saw big league action with the Baltimore Orioles last season after being designated for assignment by the Braves when backstop Sean Murphy returned from the fractured rib he suffered in Spring Training."
"Tromp adds organizational depth that is needed after the team removed late-season addition Chuckie Robinson from its 40-man roster and he elected free agent. The team had also agreed to bring in long-time backstop Austin Nola on a minor league deal earlier in the offseason, but Nola opted to become the bullpen coach for the Seattle Mariners. Atlanta has the 2025 National League Rookie of the Year, Drake Baldwin, and the returning-from-injury Murphy currently slated to be the team's two catchers in 2026."
Chadwick Tromp rejoined the Atlanta Braves on a minor league contract, adding experienced catching depth to the organization. Tromp began 2025 on Atlanta's Opening Day roster and saw major-league action with the Baltimore Orioles after the Braves designated him for assignment when Sean Murphy returned from a fractured Spring Training rib. The signing follows the removal of Chuckie Robinson from the 40-man roster and Robinson's election of free agency, and comes after Austin Nola declined a minor league deal to take a Seattle Mariners coaching role. Tromp, in the organization since late 2021, will likely report to Triple-A Gwinnett. He has appeared in 67 big-league games since 2020, 28 with the Braves.
