"On the offensive side of things, Mike Yastremski finally came through. With Dominic Smith on second in the third inning, Yastrzemski knocked him in to give the Braves a 1-0 lead. After the Cubs took a 2-1 lead in the fourth, Austin Riley continued his much needed surge with a solo shot to tie the game in the fifth."
The Braves entered a home matchup after a successful road trip that included a series win over the Dodgers, while the Cubs held the top spot in MLB power rankings. Grant Holmes showed improvement by retiring the first five batters he faced, then again retiring five in a row before allowing a home run to Bregman. Control issues returned as Holmes walked three straight batters, loaded the bases, and allowed a run that put Chicago ahead 2-1. Holmes was replaced in the fifth by Didier Fuentes, and the bullpen delivered no-hit pitching with no walks. Mike Yastrzemski drove in a run in the third, and Austin Riley hit a solo homer in the fifth to tie the game.
