Gwinnett fell 4-3 to Charlotte despite a strong outing from Owen Murphy. Murphy worked 6.1 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. He kept much of his fastball effective, generating four strikeouts on the pitch, and he showed solid slider performance with eight whiffs. The lone home run allowed came on a changeup, and his changeup control and effectiveness were limited.

Murphy largely remained in control through this game and really located his fastball well throughout, a trait which allowed him to get four of his seven strikeouts on his fastball."

Murphy got great results on his slider as well with eight of his 15 whiffs on the pitch, though he wasn't doing a particularly great job of keeping it down. When he did land those pitches down he was getting excellent movement and hitters had trouble with it, and he got away with the mistakes he did make."
