Armstrong injured in crash at Indy 500 practice
Briefly

Marcus Armstrong suffered a crash during the Indianapolis 500 qualifying practice, hitting the wall at high speed and requiring medical attention. Although he was transported on a stretcher, he remained conscious and alert, according to medical staff. Meyer Shank Racing began preparing its backup car, uncertain of who would drive it. With limited fallback options, including only one refresher course-eligible driver, the team faces challenges to ensure representation in the race amidst potential conflicts of interest with other teams.
If Armstrong is unable to qualify the No. 66, there are few options available. Tony Kanaan is the only driver to complete the refresher course, but he is the team principal for Arrow McLaren.
Armstrong was able to climb from his wrecked car after it finally came to rest on the track, but he was immediately helped onto a stretcher. He gave a thumbs up as he was loaded into an ambulance.
