Calvin Duncan was arrested for murder-robbery in 1982 and sentenced to life in prison despite unreliable eyewitness testimony and inadequate legal defense. While incarcerated, Duncan became a jailhouse lawyer, assisting those unable to afford legal representation. He helped many inmates overturn their convictions while facing challenges like acquiring public records. In 2011, after 28 years of wrongful imprisonment, Duncan was exonerated with help from the Innocence Project of New Orleans. He later earned a BA from Tulane and a law degree from Lewis and Clark University and founded the Light of Justice program.
