Will A.I. Close or Widen the Gender Gap in the Arts? | Artnet News
"The 2026 Hardwiring Change survey, which will reach thousands of arts professionals worldwide, seeks to replace anecdotal accounts with hard data on pay, leadership, career mobility, and workplace conditions. Building on the inaugural survey's findings, the second iteration of the project will also examine how emerging technologies such as A.I. are reshaping professional advancement, and whether they offer new opportunities or risk reinforcing existing disparities."
"In June, we will reveal the results at a public launch event with more than 250 attendees that will bring together senior leaders, government representatives, and members of the press. Your feedback is essential to building an accurate picture of the challenges and opportunities facing women today. The more perspectives we gather, the stronger and more actionable the findings will be."
Artnet and the Association for Women in the Arts are conducting the second edition of the Hardwiring Change survey to measure gender inequity across the art world through quantitative data rather than anecdotal evidence. The survey targets thousands of arts professionals globally and examines pay, leadership opportunities, career mobility, and workplace conditions. This iteration expands to investigate how emerging technologies like artificial intelligence influence professional advancement and whether they create new opportunities or perpetuate existing disparities. The 10-minute survey is voluntary and anonymous, with responses closing March 17. Results will be presented at a public launch event in June with over 250 attendees including senior leaders, government representatives, and media.
