Wexford hospital residents enjoy high-energy circus performance
Residents of a community hospital and nursing home in County Wexford attended a front-row circus performance by the visiting Tumble Circus troupe. The “Won’t be Told” show, created by founders Ken and Tina, focused on continuing to create, perform, and push physical limits over time. The performance blended high-level circus skills with chaotic energy, combining acrobatics, juggling, and comedy while resisting fading into the background. The Creative Activity Garden at St. John’s Community Hospital in Enniscorthy hosts outdoor events and health and wellbeing activities in a multi-functional amphitheatre-style space. The Activity Garden project was supported by Wexford County Council’s Culture and Creativity team and Age Friendly programme, with partners including the HSE, Creative Ireland, and the Irish Architectural Foundation, and funded through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
"Performed by founders of Tumble Circus Ken and Tina, their 'Won't be Told' show was centred on the experience of continuing to create, perform and push physical limits over time. Blending high-level circus skills with a deliberately chaotic energy, the show combined acrobatics, juggling and comedy into a performance that resisted the idea of fading into the background."
"Featuring an amphitheatre styled area, the Creative Activity Garden is a multi-functional space for gatherings and health and wellbeing activities in the heart of the HSE healthcare campus, and has been proving itself as a successful development in the community. The attendance at the 'Tumble Circus' performance included residents and service users of the campus, staff, regular visitors and neighbours of the campus in Enniscorthy."
"The Activity Garden project was supported as a placement incentive by Wexford County Council's Culture and Creativity team and Age Friendly programme, in partnership with the HSE, Creative Ireland, the Irish Architectural Foundation and the Enniscorthy Men's Shed. Opened in September of last year, the development was also made possible thanks to funding from the government's Town and Village Renewal Scheme which amounted to a fund of €234,000."
"The work was then carried out by Monageer Contracting Ltd, S&N Granite, Camolin and Wexford County Council engineers. Refreshments were then provided by the catering team from St. John's Community Hospital. Recently appointed HSE Integrated Services Lead for Waterford/Wexford Sarah Donnelly was welcomed to the special occasion by Kas Nolan (Director of Nursing, Waterford/Wexford Mental Health Services,"
