Wenting Zhu Cultivates a Kaleidoscopic Garden of Crystals in 100+ Petri Dishes
"" Crystal Garden: Seasons " features more than 100 chemical compounds manipulated with various pigments to create a kaleidoscope of colorful growths that spring up and crawl across the tiny, round vessels."
"Zhu writes about the project: "Garden serves as a metaphor for the meeting of the natural and the man-made. A garden is a space where nature and human intention intertwine: neither wholly wild nor entirely artificial.""

Crystal Garden: Seasons uses more than 100 chemical compounds combined with pigments to produce kaleidoscopic crystal growths in small, round vessels. The chemical reactions generate colorful patterns that emerge, expand, and crawl across the surfaces, evoking miniature ecosystems. The project frames a garden as a space where natural processes and human intention converge, producing outcomes that are neither wholly wild nor entirely artificial. Additional work by the studio explores molds and salt using similar visually driven experiments. Visual documentation and further information are available on Beauty of Science's Behance page and website.
