In an incident captured by surveillance cameras, a tourist couple broke a glass chair artwork at the Palazzo Maffei museum in Verona, Italy. The glass chair, inspired by Van Gogh, was created by artist Nicola Bolla and featured Swarovski crystals. While posing for photos, the male tourist sat on the chair, causing it to break. The couple quickly left the scene after realizing their mistake, prompting museum director Vanessa Carlon to label the incident a "nightmare" for any museum. As of now, the individuals involved remain unidentified, and the chair's estimated value has not been disclosed.
Captured in April, the footage showed a man and a woman posing next to a chair in the museum. The glass chair, created by Italian artist Nicola Bolla, is known as the van Gogh chair because it's a tribute to Vincent van Gogh's 1888 painting Van Gogh's Chair.
After remaining in the pose for several seconds, the man then tried to sit in the chair. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the glass chair immediately gave in to the weight and broke.
